From the first edition of Electric Castle, we invited people to an atypical experience, in Bonțida, far from our day to day lives, in a medieval castle animated by club music and happy people. It will be legendary! - That’s what we have been thinking.
And it was exactly like that. An intense and intimate festival at Banffy Castle. With butterflies in our stomachs.
It was only the beginning of an awesome journey.

Bigger, stronger, better!

After the first edition of Electric Castle, we were ready to take things to the next level. The festival grew a lot for the second edition and it became clear for everyone that EC was committed to challenging the status quo. With a bold line-up, having Die Antwoord as headliners, more stages and activities, EC became a must for the festival-goers.

The third edition of Electric Castle came with a statement about the incredible community gathered around the Banffy Castle. We were getting together again at the castle to feel those incredible festival vibes and create new memories.

2016 will always have a special place in our hearts. That year, we explored new territories, expanding the festival area and putting together a new structure for The Main Stage, in the open field. We explored with technology and projections as well, having the castle put into a completely new light by RBMA.
All fun and games until the rain messed up our plans. It was not for the first time when it rained at EC, but that time our beautiful festival was turned into a mud pit. However, it was the moment we realized the commitment of the EC community to see their favourite artists and have fun. Despite the heavy rain and the sticky mud, music won.
One of the most iconic moments was at Skrillex’s performance. Seeing people singing, dancing and having the times of their lives in those hostile conditions was one of the most powerful motivations for us to continue improving the festival and their experience. To make it legendary!

At EC5, we wanted to offer a richer experience for the EC community, through a diverse line-up, with Deadmau5, Franz Ferdinand, Zedd and Alt-J as headliners and through many activities to brighten up the days and nights.
The Royal Wheel offered an incredible view over the festival, becoming one the most appreciated spots from EC. The place you can’t miss.
It was the first disability-friendly edition, allowing persons with disabilities to join the festival for free.

Meet me at the castle.

Damian Marley, Jessie J, Mura Masa, Richie Hawtin, Groove Armada, San Holo, Wolf Alice, Subcarpați, Little Big, Kensington, Alison Wonderland, Little Boots and many others.
We met at the castle for an incredible experience. The most iconic moment of this edition was when Jessie J invited a little girl from the public to join her on stage and sing together.
Among many activities, the festival also hosted The Metropolitan Circus of Bucharest, who brought their ”Reveria” show, created in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil.
There was a lot to explore inside the festival, including a supermarket built from scratch and a grill area brought by Lidl.

The seventh edition of Electric Castle was meant to challenge the senses all day and night. Nature and technology, activities and chilling out, music and peace of mind. We’ve got them all at EC7.
In 2019, Banffy Castle turned into a New Media Castle, hosting surreal installations of internationally acclaimed new media artists.
It was also the first time in Romania when a music festival could have been enjoyed by the hearing impaired. The sign language translator Amber Galloway broke the barriers of sound, touching the souls of thousands of people. This experience was made possible thanks to Mastercard.

EC_Special August 2021
Back to life.

In 2021, Electric Castle came with a new, and special concept, meant to bring back the festival vibes in a challenging context. EC_Special was an eclectic musical journey in Bonțida and, for the first time, in Cluj-Napoca as well. The festival experience became more accessible than ever before.
It was a 10-day celebration of the diversity of music, with15 venues, more than 400 acts of live music, DJ gigs, and new media performances.
The party started at Bonțida, with artists like Sigma, Noisia or Ben Böhmer going on the stages.
Then, we moved to Cluj-Napoca for an electric week, turning the city into a musical playground for national and international artists. The most beautiful historical buildings of Cluj hosted outstanding live acts, Cetățuia Park became the land of DJs and Unirii Square was conquered by music.

Bonțida Fever hit us hard, and we loved every sweaty minute of it. It wasn't just a 5-day party; it was a reunion of the coolest family you never knew you had. In the end, this is where we found that the world we long for isn't some far-off dream. It's right here; in the friendships forged, the memories made, and the music that moves us. It’s in the EC spirit that lives on - open, wild, and wonderfully weird.

Electric Castle became the place where we collectively pressed pause and hit reset. EC Therapy wasn’t just a theme. Five days when music turned into medicine, dancing into release, and friendships into the kind of support system you carry long after the gates close.
EC11 proved that therapy doesn’t always happen in silence. Sometimes it happens in bass drops, in dusty sneakers, in laughter you can’t control, and in moments so alive they recalibrate you. We came for the artists, we stayed for each other, and we left a little lighter than we arrived.
